Hi, I am Kate Choppen. I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist, OldPain2Go Practitioner, Occupational Therapist and Mindfulness teacher. I am compassionate, caring and driven to help support others. I have 16 years experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS, however in 2017 I set up Black Dog Therapy and I have not looked back!
So why Black Dog?
The Black Dog is a metaphor famously referred to by Winston Churchill to describe his episodes of depression. The concept of the black dog has always struck a chord with me, and it can transform the term 'depression' into something far stronger and truer to form. I can help you to befriend and tame the black dog into strength, resilience and personal acceptance.
The focus of therapy is to help you become a master of your own mental health. Spot the early warning signs and triggers, so you can take action, implement coping strategies, and ensure you are doing the best you can to keep mentally well.
I offer several different approaches; Hypnotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), OldPain2Go®, Kinetic Shift and Mindfulness. These therapies can be used individually, or they can be combined to complement each other. They will work alongside other strategies you may chose to use and other support you may be accessing such as medication from your GP or other talking therapies.
